![]() ![]() I typically ignore them even after they are won or settled. When that doesn't work it is time to go get a second opinion. Kinda like you are sick and the first doctor says go home and take two aspirin. Take the car to a different dealer and see what they say. As they are well aware of the "shudder" and have multiple TSBs to solve it at least for a time, if they say you don't have it I would bet you don't. And all of a sudden you will feel that "shudder" that makes you think you have hit 10-15 1 x 1s placed sideways on the normally smooth pavement.Īnd GM has developed equipment to accurately measure the phenomena. So under steady speed operation the A8 is in gear 7 or 8 and the motor is just loafing along. My normal commute contains a lot of multi lane boulevard type driving at 55 mph speed limits. It generally is experienced during part throttle operation at lower rpm and constant speed. It is quite noticeable and unmistakeable. When my A8 (in my Corvette as my ATS-V is too new to have it yet) shudders it feels like I am running over 1" x 1" wood pieces laid perpendicular to my direction of travel and spaced about 2 feet apart. ![]() So, how many of you are also experiencing the problem from a standing start, and has anyone else attempted to go through an arbitration process with GM? If so, have you been successful, or have you failed?Īctually 18-NA-355 as it came out in early December of 2018. My car, an $80K ATS-V, should not stutter when accelerating from a standing start, and GM's proposed fix, does nothing to resolve the problem, although the fix does seem to lessen the magnitude of the problem, for a week or so. Secondly, GM is trying to frame the problem as "Normal operation", which fails to state whether a stutter is normal, or not. My car stutters, but it is more apparent from a standing start than it is when driven at 43+ mph. So, by performing GMs specified test, they failed to acknowledge that my car has slightly different profile of the issue, although the net result is the same. Here's my issue, and I would love feedback.įirst of all, my car stutters when driven from a standing start, and it suffers to a much lesser degree when driven and tested in the 43+ mph test that GM suggests. I have several issues with this conclusion, and wanted to see if any other owners are also suffering. He submitted findings that state that he did not "feel the problem" and the tests did not support the indications that must be present (according to GM) in order to confirm that my car, is suffering from the problem in the TSB. GM has sent an engineer to my dealership, who drove the car, and performed the test that is outlined in the TSB. I live in SC, and I've now begun working with the Better Business Bureau (an agreed to arbitrator for lemon law disputes in SC) to get GM to buy back the car. Unfortunately, in my case, the problem persists, and even after purging the fluid and refilling with the latest specification for the fluid, the car still stutters. I've had the car in for repairs, and twice the dealer has performed "the procedure" outlined in the TSB. My 2017 ATS-V suffers from the stuttering/performance problem that's described in the TSB. ![]()
